Microsoft is working hard with Edge to ensure that you have a great web browsing experience.
Edge strives to protect your privacy, block annoying notifications, offer auto-play controls, and remove intrusive ads.
Unfortunately, Edge is not so immune to "native ads". Many users report seeing ads that promote mobile Edge in their browser settings.
The company started displaying a fairly large banner in the Edge profile settings section. This banner encourages users to try out the new sync features and download the mobile Edge app using a QR code. There is one more instruction on how to scan the QR code using your smartphone.
It is worth mentioning that Mobile Edge already has a separate promotion section in the desktop browser. Open Settings and switch to phone and other services. There you will find instructions on how to set up Edge on a mobile device.
However, it seems that Microsoft thinks that this is not enough, so it added an additional banner to the Profile page.
This move can be added to Microsoft's recent efforts to promote its services to Windows 10. Υπάρχουν διαφημίσεις για την υπηρεσία Edge in Search, Bing Search, Start Menu, Desktop και στο Settings UI. Η εταιρεία προωθεί επίσης με διαφημίσεις στις συνδρομές στο Microsoft 365 χρησιμοποιώντας ένα banner στην Εξερεύνηση αρχείων, αλλά και το Outlook for mobile at Windows Mail
It seems that the ads on Microsoft Edge were released gradually. The new banners do not appear on some computers, but they already exist. We see them in the Stable and Dev versions of the browser, but not in the versions from the Canary channel. However, other users report seeing banners on the Edge Canary as well.
If you are not satisfied with the new notification in Edge Settings, you can easily turn it off. All you need to do is click on button "Dismiss".
