Microsoft has officially opened the new Edge Chromium Extensions website, where all developers can submit their Add-ons of the new Microsoft Edge browser.
The Submission Portal for add-ons that will work with the new Edge browser, opened on December 16th for all developers. They are invited to submit the extensions through him Partner Center Developer Dashboard.
Until recently this feature has been limited to a few select developers. Edge allows most Chromium / Chrome extensions to work without modifications. It also includes a series Edge-only API, where interested developers can use them in their extensions.
Microsoft will no longer accept new extensions to the classic EdgeHTML browser. However, it will continue to receive updates on existing "legacy" extensions. Microsoft encourages developers to modify their extensions for Edge Chromium. When users switch to Edge Chromium, they will try to find the developer update and install it automatically.
Microsoft uses currently three channels for the delivery updates to Edge Insiders. The stable version of Microsoft Edge is expected to be released on January 15, 2020.
