EDPPI block in 47 domains together with OpenSubtitles

Following a request from the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO), Greek ISPs are obliged to block dozens of new domains. In the targeted domains there are also Fmovies.to, zooqle.com with several proxies for RARBG.

The popular OpenSubtitles website is also blacklisted.

Ο exclusion piracy of websites by ISPs started ten years ago, and to this day is a common practice in many countries. Of course, this also applies to Greece. We saw this happen for the first time in 2018.

These requests are managed by the EDPPI, a special committee of the Greek Ministry of Culture that acts following complaints received from beneficiaries.

The Greek system, of course, is different from that of other countries, as it does not need judicial supervision. It is an administrative procedure that allows copyright holders to request immediate blocking of pirated websites without the need for lengthy and costly legal proceedings.

The last request for exclusion was submitted by the Society for the Protection of Audiovisual Works (EPOE), an anti-piracy group representing the interests of major Greek copyright holders. THE company had also taken blocking measures against The Pirate Bay, 1337x and YTS pages. Since then it has regularly requested additions to the existing blacklist.

The new block order was issued a few days ago and targets 47 domains. Many of them are proxies or copies of the popular RARBG website, such as rarbgto.org, proxyrarbg.or, rarbgget.org, rarbgmirror.com and rarbgmirror.org.

Other sites included include: Flixtor, Filmix, Watchservies, Zooqle, TorrentGalaxy and many KickassTorrents sites.

Almost all domains on the list give access to pirated movies and TV shows, with one exception. The OpenSubtitles subtitle community, which does not host illegal videos. Yes it's not the first time, if you remember the ban on subs4free;
