EIT: The event, organized by GSRT and the ESF, will present new funding opportunities for AEIs, research centers and businesses.
The General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) and the National Documentation Center (ESF) are organizing an Information Day for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and the new funding opportunities for AEIs, research centers and businesses. The event will take place on Friday 18 March (09.30-14.30) in Athens (L. Zervas Amphitheater, National Research Foundation, Vas. Konstantinos 48).
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (European Institute of Innovation & Technology), με χρηματοδότηση 2,35 δισ. ευρώ από το πρόγραμμα Ορίζοντας 2020 της ΕΕ, αποτελεί την πρώτη ευρωπαϊκή πρωτοβουλία για την ολοκλήρωση του "Τριγώνου της Γνώσης" (εκπαίδευση, έρευνα, επιχειρηματικότητα) μέσω των "Κοινοτήτων Γνώσης και Καινοτομίας" (Knowledge Innovation Clusters, KICs).
The EIT is developing actions to:
- entrepreneurship education for researchers (postgraduate, doctoral and business training programs),
- the development of innovative products, services and business models,
- the creation και ανάπτυξη επιχειρήσεων (start-up incubation, μεταφορά τεχνολογίας, σύνδεση έρευνας και παραγωγής, βραβεία, κ.λπ.).
The EIT function started with 2008 and, to date, the following Knowledge and Innovation Communities are functioning:
- KIC for Information and Communication Technologies (EIT Digital), with the participation of organizations from Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France and the United Kingdom
- KIC on climate change mitigation and climate change (Climate-KIC), involving organizations from Denmark, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Spain and Italy
- KIC for Sustainable Energy (KIC InnoEnergy), involving organizations from Spain, France, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium
- KIC για την υγιή διαβίωση και ενεργό γήρανση (EIT Health), με συμμετοχή οργανισμών από τη Σουηδία, την Ισπανία, τη Γαλλία, τη Γερμανία, το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και τις Κάτω Χώρες (κοινό κέντρο Ολλανδίας-Βελγίου)
- KIC for raw materials (EIT Raw Materials), with the participation of organizations from Finland, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, France and Poland.
The current call for proposals, with a closing date of 14 July 2016, concerns the creation of two new KICs in the areas of:
- EIT-Τρόφιμα για το μέλλον (EIΤ Food: Food4Future - Sustainable Supply Chain from Resources to Consumers): αφορά την εξασφάλιση μιας αειφόρου παγκόσμιας αλυσίδας αξίας των τροφίμων, ανθεκτικής στην κλιματική αλλαγή, και
- EIT-Manufacturing: Added-value Manufacturing: it is about strengthening and increasing the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in Europe.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης, η Μathea Fammels, Head of Unit "Policy and Communications" (acting) του ΕΙΤ, και ο Αντώνης Φυσεκίδης, KIC Project Officer του EIT, θα παρουσιάσουν τις προκηρύξεις και τις χρηματοδοτικές ευκαιρίες για τους ελληνικούς οργανισμούς. Στη συνέχεια εκπρόσωποι των 5 Κοινοτήτων Γνώσης και Καινοτομίας (KICs) του ΕΙΤ θα παρουσιάσουν τις επιμέρους δράσεις των KICs. Οι συμμετέχοντες θα ενημερωθούν επίσης για συμπληρωματικά χρηματοδοτικά εργαλεία.

It is noted that the National Documentation Center acts as the National Contact Point for the EU Horizon 2020 program for research and innovation (www.ekt.gr/horizon2020) and for a number of its individual programs, supporting the Greek academic, research and business community for its participation. Covering all stages of research projects, from the preparation of the proposal to the implementation and exploitation of research results, the ESF services include: Information and Consulting Services, Support Office Operation, Development and Distribution of Information Material, Organization of Events and Seminars, Finding partners to form joint ventures and joint submission of proposals, recording national participation and issuing statistical data and performance indicators.
