Emilian Leonhard and Vicente Sabatier from Hirox Europe took part in an incredible project last year: they photographed the painting "The girl with the pearl earring»Vermeer in an incredible resolution, so that anyone can see the painting at the level of 4,4-microns per pixel.
The project was carried out in order to evaluate the surface condition of the painting, the measurement cracks and the projection of the topography of various key areas, while evaluating the previous restorations.
With the specialist latest technology equipment them, the duo built what Leonhardt describes as the first panorama of 10 billion pixels (93.205 x 108.565). This equates to about 10.118 megapixels.
The work was done on duration of the night, where 9.100 photos were automatically taken and stitched together to form a complete panoramic image where one pixel equals 4,4 microns. The resulting detail is truly outstanding.

Her microscope Hirox 3D can give specific parameters, then start autofocusing and taking detailed images of an area and then export a final, well-focused final image. This image can then be used to give researchers and art historians an incredibly clear view of specific areas of a painting.
