EKT: Seminar “Preparing Young Researchers for Open Science” by the National Documentation Center

For the fifth consecutive year, the National Documentation Center (EKT) participates in the International Week of Open Access to Knowledge (October 19-25, 2015). The central event of its related activities is the Seminar "Preparing young researchers for Open Science" which will take place on October 20 at the National Research Foundation. By carrying out simultaneous and coordinated actions for Open Access at a global level, the aim of the Week is to broadly inform and raise awareness of the research and academic community in the processes of Open Access to scientific knowledge and the results of publicly funded s.

The EKT, with active action to promote open policies and infrastructures s in Greece and Europe, focuses the actions of this year's organization on the future of research in Greece, i.e. on young researchers. The aim of the activities (October 19-23 at the National Research Foundation-EIE) is to inform young researchers about modern practices and policies and the new environment for Open Science that is emerging in Europe.

The Seminar "Preparing Young Researchers for Open Science", which will take place on October 20 (09.30-15.00) at the L. Zervas Amphitheater in ETF, will focus on fundamentally informing young researchers on Open Science, transnational science. , the policies of research institutes and research sponsors.

The Seminar will also cover, in detail, topics such as open access publications, self-archiving in repositories, open access to research data and its management, as well as and their management. The relevant services of the ECB will also be presented shortly. Finally, a round table with the participation of young researchers will provide a platform for a lively discussion that will focus on the researchers' own perspective on open access.

Participation in the Seminar “Preparing New Researchers for Open Science” is free, but online registration is required http://openaccess.gr/ekt_oa/oaweek/oaweek_2015.dot. The Seminar will be broadcasted live at the address http://media.ekt.gr/live.

The Seminar will be framed by the activity "Learn, Listen, Ask" which will be held from October 19 to 23, 2015 at Viblios K.Th. Mayor of EKT:

a) Learn: Visitors and researchers can be informed about Open Access, benefits, related infrastructures and ESF actions, as well as on copyright issues. Also, they can be browsed online at Open Access sites at the Library's Electronic Reading Room (08.30-20.00).

b) Listen: Researchers will be able to attend informative 15-minute presentations on Open Access to the Library's Electronic Reading Room. More specifically, 11: 00 and 14: 00 will be 20-day informative sessions for researchers on the self-archiving of institutional repositories, such as the Sun Helium repository.

c) Ask: The staff of the ESF will be made available to the public to provide further information and answer questions about Open Access.

It is noted that in the ground floor of the National Research Foundation, where the K.K. Hall and the Electronic Reading Room of the ESF, operates a free wireless broadband WiFi network that allows visitors access to the Internet and the content of the Digital Library of the ESF.
