Tesla CEO Elon Musk now owns 9,2 percent of Twitter, according to a file released today by Bloomberg News. According to the publication, Musk bought the share on March 14.
Musk has long been one of the users with more than 80 million followers. As of today, after the announcements, it is considered the largest shareholder of Twitter after buying 9,2% of the company's shares.
The richest man in the world with a fortune of about 273 billion dollars bought almost 73,5 million shares, according to a document submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
That means Tesla co-founder owns more than four times as many as Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, who owns 2,25%.
The news, of course, caused Twitter to jump more than 26% before Wall Street opened on Monday, which means the company now stands at about $ 3,6 billion, earning $ 1,2 billion in three weeks.
Musk's share is worth about $ 2,89 billion, based on the market closing on Friday.
It should be mentioned that Elon Musk recently even criticized the freedom of speech on Twitter, through a poll that went viral.
In the poll, the members of the platform asked if they believe that there is freedom of speech on Twitter. 70% of the users answered no. Musk later tweeted that he was seriously considering setting up a new social networking platform.
