Equifax, an American company that offers credit rating and theft protection solutions, has been violated, exposing 143 personal data to millions of Americans, that is, half the country.
It sounds ironic, that the company Equifax, one of the largest consumer credit monitoring companies in the US, admitted today that it had suffered a massive infringement of her data sometime between mid-May and July, and found out on July 29. However, it is unknown why Equifax took 6 weeks to notify the millions of affected customers of the massive security breach.
The stolen data included consumers' names, social security numbers, dates of birth (for 143 million citizens) and, in some cases, license numbers driving, and credit card numbers (for about 209.000 citizens).
The company reported that some personal information was also leaked information για κατοίκους Κανδά και Βρετανίας. Επιπλέον, σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες, τρία ανώτερα στελέχη της Equifax, οι John Gamble (CFO), Joseph Loughran and Rodolfo Ploder, sold their shares worth about $2 million just days after the company learned about this massive hack.
