ESET Data Protection for Dummies Guide for SMEs

The 25η May 2019 marked the one-year anniversary of the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe. Despite the fact that for the past 12 months, this issue has been covered en masse and there are a variety of products to support the transition to the GDPR, many small and medium-sized enterprises are still not meeting their obligations. For this reason, ESET has prepared a comprehensive guide to guide SMEs in a simple and easy way in their efforts to comply with existing and future data protection guidelines. The 60-page "Data Protection for Dummies" guide is available for free on the ESET website.

The number of data collected and stored by companies has risen to an unprecedented level compared to 10 years ago, making not only large but also smaller businesses an attractive target for cybercriminals. In the European Union, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 99% of all enterprises, and globally, 95%. As IDC records, 70% of all cyber-security breaches are for SMEs.

Data Protection for Dummies

SMEs have encountered difficulties in the processes of technological preparation and management for compliance with GDPR.

Data protection, however, is heavily reliant on technology, but it really depends on readiness, discipline and best practices.

And in this direction, the ESET driver «Data Protection for Dummies» responds specifically to the needs of SMEs by providing the appropriate knowledge of the technologies, tools and security procedures they need to improve their ability to protect their data and IT resources, as well as to effectively minimize the impact of a possible data breach.

More information about one year of applying the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe will be found here. Those interested can download the complete "Data Protection for Dummies" guide for free on the ESET website.
