Facebook continues to add new multimedia features to Messenger, a standalone chat app. The latest addition lets you instantly send (and play) video up to 15 seconds from the iOS app.
The new feature is similar to the "snapshot" feature that was added in April. Both features allow users to take photos and record videos while messaging your friends without ever leaving the app. This puts Facebook Messenger on par with WeChat, Tango, Snapchat and other chat apps that already use media sharing.
These changes have not yet been released for the Android version of the app.
