Η Google continues to fight the use of ad blockers on YouTube. More and more users are seeing messages saying "ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube". Google seems to be continuing to test various restrictions. So nothing can guarantee the operation of ad blockers.
Even the most important ad blockers run into problems from time to time. However, these seem to be easily overcome with some code tweaking, but it's still annoying when it happens.
There are of course alternatives to blocking ads on YouTube, as we mentioned in an earlier post.
But let's look at a new idea
FadBlock: Friendly Adblock for Youtube, is one extension open source for Firefox and Google Chrome that uses a different one technique to avoid the huge number of ads that YouTube shows you.
Instead of trying to block advertising, it loads ads and then skips or forwards them automatically.
The developer reports that ads are loading, but that they are either skipped (skip ad), if the option is available, or fast forwarded. The result is the same: This process usually happens in less than 50 ms, which means that these ads will not bother you as they will appear for tenths of a second.
Note that the Chrome version of the extension can also be installed on other browsers based on the Chromium. You can install it in Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi, Brave, Opera browsers.
Another interesting detail of the extension is that it cannot be classified as an ad blocker, as it does not block ads.
The extension works on YouTube as well as other YouTube video sites, according to the description.
Firefox users can download and install the extension from the repository Mozilla add-ons.
Chrome and Chromium users can install it from the Chrome Web Store.
