The LibreOffice is one of the most popular applications that comes free as an alternative Microsoft Office for Windows. But as of today, there is an app with a similar one name where is available in the Windows Store for the modern Windows 8 UI.
Such news may seem quite exciting in the first instance, but the LibreOffice application we are talking about is a small utility that has nothing to do with LibreOffice's suite. However, it has already persuaded many to install the fake program.
In fact, the utility (if it can really be called that) describes the purpose of each tooly that exists in the LibreOffice suite, and contains links that refer to the Internet for more information.
It's really hard to understand how these apps appear as Windows-approved applications from Microsoft when the company reports that it is doing its best to provide Windows 8 users with high-quality applications.
To add that at this time, there are about 166.000 applications in the Windows Store, but it is really difficult to determine how many of them are actually fakes and how many could actually be helpful.
So be careful what you download and install on your computer. The above application may not be malicious, but it could easily refer to malicious ones websites. You should always keep in mind that all that glitters is not gold. Especially on the internet.
