One of the largest conferences in the Internet, the annual one Future Internet Assembly - FIA Athens 2014 takes place on 18-20 March in Athens. More than 400 leading academics, companies active in advanced network technologies, infrastructures, applications, services and content, as well as officials and experts from public and private organizations from all over Europe, are expected to participate, with the aim of promoting actions to reform the internet of the future.
The conference is the 11th meeting of the Future Internet Assembly consortium, which comprises more than 150 EU-funded projects working together to strengthen European actions related to the Internet.network of the Future, with the aim of maintaining Europe's competitiveness in the global market.
The main focus of this year's event is the creation of the new web-based technology landscape with the integration of software, network and cloud computing for the development of innovative applications. The work of the conference begins at 18 March with keynote speeches by prominent experts at the Opening Session, while 19 and 20 March will hold nine parallel working sessions.
Πριν από την έναρξη του συνεδρίου θα πραγματοποιηθούν παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις, που ενθαρρύνουν την ανταλλαγή ιδεών και των μέχρι σήμερα αποτελεσμάτων έργων του 7ου Προγράμματος Πλαίσιο. Επιπλέον, στον εκθεσιακό χώρο θα συμμετέχουν πάνω από 40 έργα, σε επτά θεματικούς τομείς: Net Futures, FIRE, Connected Smart Cities, FI-PPP, Cloud Computing, Software and Services, Network Technologies, International Cooperation, while more than 40 presentations with posters will take place.

FIA Athens 2014 is held under the auspices of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The organizer is the National Research and Technology Network (EDET S.A.), in cooperation and with the support of the Directorate General Communication Networks, Content and Technologies - CONNECT of the European Commission.
