In an age where communication seems to spring from the displays of smartphones and tablets, the visually impaired are probably not particularly favored.

Για παράδειγμα, όταν εκείνος τοποθετεί το δάχτυλό του επάνω στη σελίδα ενός βιβλίου, στην surface μιας ταμπλέτας ή ενός ebook, κινώντας το προς τα δεξιά, το δαχτυλίδι ανάγνωσης σαρώνει το κείμενο, μεταφράζοντας τους χαρακτήρες σε φωνή. Με τη βοήθεια ενός ειδικού λογισμικού το FingerReader διηγείται την ιστορία που ξετυλίγεται σιγά-σιγά μπροστά στον αναγνώστη. Προκειμένου ο χρήστης να διατηρεί τη σωστή πορεία με το δάχτυλό του, το «tool» reading has vibration so that he can easily understand e.g. that it has moved away from the point of the text.
FingerReader, according to scientists, could in the future replace existing reading systems that target visually impaired people and often offer limited capabilities while presenting inaccuracies when operating.
The handy device is still under development. The researchers argue that there are still some "flaws" that need improvement, such as e.g. the speed of reading, the fact that it is wired, etc.
