In her blog Adobe Secure Software Engineering Team (ASSET), Peleus Uhley, announced that the Flash Player is now sandboxed on Safari of OS X Mavericks.
What does this mean for you? Of course it is a safer platform that protects you from malicious software while you are browsing the web.
According to Uhley, “His rights Flash Player to read and write archives limited to only those pages it needs to function. The sandbox also limits local connections of Flash Player on device resources and internal communication processes (IPC). Finally, the sandbox limits its networking privileges Flash Player to avoid unnecessary connection possibilities. ”
Η Adobe states that the development of the new feature would not have been possible without the help of Apple: "I would like to thank the Apple Security team who worked with us to develop it"
The sandboxing is only available at Safari 7.0 of OS X Mavericks. If you use Safari 6 or Safari 5 in an earlier version of Mac OS, you should upgrade to the free OS X Mavericks.
