FOSSCOMM (Free and Open Source Software Communities Meeting) is the pan-Hellenic conference of free software and open source software communities. The content is of wide interest, from technical issues and workshops, to translations, legal issues, policy issues related to free/open software, etc.
It is held annually by 2008 and to date 6 has been organized in different cities. The event is organized by volunteers and its funding is based on sponsorships and donations.
The FOSSCOMM conference this year will take place in Heraklion, Crete, and will be hosted on the campus just outside the city. More specifically, the organizing team consists of the Pan-University of Crete radio station (RA.STA.PAN.K 96,7), the Postgraduate Association of the Computer Science Department and the Laback Hackerspace.
The organization of the conference talks will be done in modules, which include talks and workshops. First, we have a security section in which the Greek Open Web Application Security community also participates Project (OWASP), καθώς και ένα Cryptoparty όπου θα μάθουμε για τις τεχνολογίες προστασίας της ιδιωτικότητας και encryptions. Still, it will have sections for Mobile & IoT (Internet Of Things), για Cloud & DevOps, καθώς και για την ανοιχτή αρχιτεκτονική RISC-V. Το συνέδριο θα καλύπτει και θέματα ευρύτερου ενδιαφέροντος που δεν απαιτούν τεχνικές γνώσεις, όπως θέματα πολιτικής, νομοθεσίας, εκπαίδευσης, sciences but also speeches concerning the organization of communities. For those who want to take the first step into free/open source technologies there will also be a section for beginners.
The program is expected to be announced soon and we are expecting several more surprises and activities to fill the two days. If you are interested in making a speech, the deadline has been extended until September 23, while tracking records will be open until the day of the conference.
