The British spy agency GCHQ has for the first time published an open recruitment notice for hackers. Hackers in a few simple words (and not the sophisticated ones mentioned in the announcement) are needed for development malware, and breaching systems for eavesdropping data.
Legally illegal, that is, the well-known NSA style, but also every intelligence service.
But let's see what happened:
In an announcement that published today Tuesday, the intelligence service GCHQ, said it is looking for computer experts who “may be needed to develop software that will help the access σε υπολογιστές τρομοκρατικών ομάδων, ή για την εκτέλεση εργασιών για την recovery of vital evidence, related to the position and identity of members of organized crime" as stated in the announcement.
The hackers who will work for the service are to help "detect and prevent attacks on critical national infrastructure, or to defend government systems against criminals seeking to steal information, identities or money."
The news comes just months after documents were leaked by Edward Snowden which detailed how extensive the malware development network is from UK intelligence. We mention this for those who believed that after the Snowden leaks, the status quo would automatically change… and from their couch.
Successful candidates will sign a highly confidential contract, and start working with an initial salary of 43.700 dollars.
