Cyber attack with a parallel alteration of the site was carried out on the site of Geospatial data of the wider Public Administration (geodata.gov.gr). According to reports on foreign websites, Turkish hackers belonging to the group of hackers "Cyberizm Digital Security Team" detected a failure on an internal server of the service and made a spoof and post message!

The service geodata.gov.gr is the first online service in Greece that offers free geospatial data and interactive maps to everyone. Geodata.gov.gr was designed and developed by the Information Systems Institute of the Athena Research Center without any funding. We urge responsible administrators to take DIRECT actions on restoring the server. It is clear that the targeting server is probably a server in an LAB environment. We do not know, however, whether the server that has obtained unauthorized access by Turkish hackers has access to sensitive data or whether it has access to the internal networks of the service. In such a case, the administrators of the competent service must carry out thorough scrutiny.
In any case, we regard this attack and the post as at least as deceptive for our country, while already groups of Greek hackers who are active in the field by e-mail, informed that such attacks will not be missed. According to additional information we have been told, the cognitive background of Turkish hackers is particularly low and this attack was done using server weakness and available tools on the Internet. We suspect that the administrators had not made the relevant updates (due to the lab server), which they took advantage of the Turks script kiddies.
For our part, we call for restraint regarding the above statements. At the same time, those in charge must IMMEDIATELY take any relevant action regarding the embarrassing text that has been posted, something that we consider unthinkable at least for the gov.gr domain. Especially when this service provides geospatial data to Municipalities, Cadastre, Information Society, OASA, Ministry of Interior, Education, Environment and Citizens Protection
