When most people walk along a white sand beach in Corsica, they do so to admire its beautiful landscapes, and to pick up any shell for a memento. But when the artist Gilles Cenazandotti walking on the beach does it to pick up rubbish.
As a child of Corsica, she walked to her beaches and picked up rubbish to build castles. Today, as an adult, he collects rubbish and creates three-dimensional collages made of fuzzy pieces of plastic that are mooted on the shore.
The last collection of Cenazandotti is called Future Bestiary and it is a tax prices for animals whose lives are threatened by pollution.
The series combines Rachel Carson's activist instincts with Walt Disney's talent, intense colors and caricatures.
In his hands Cenazandotti sunburned bottles, sandals, and other litter of garbage are transformed into an artefactuary featuring leopards, hyenas, and other exotic creatures.
