Google announced Thursday that it has acquired Anvato, a video software platform that usesfrom major media companies such as NBCUniversal, CBS and HGTV. Anvato enables coding, expwork, and securely publish videos across multiple platforms. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In a post at blog of the company, Google senior product manager Belwadi Srikanth wrote that the Anvato platform will complement Google's efforts to "enable scalable processing and streaming of media in the cloud."

The takeover will help the Google Cloud platform to better compete with other data storage providers for media businesses.
