In a statement to The Washington Post, Google he apologized publicly for the image of Android that appeared to be an Apple logo.

The person in charge of all this was a Map Maker account that uses the nick-boy name.
Apparently it was just one of many trolls who continue to point out weaknesses in Google's seemingly non-existent review process in mode of Map Maker.
We hope Google gets the message.
