Google he said that the revamped Find My Device service, currently rolling out in the US and Canada, will soon be available worldwide. The service supports devices running Android 9 or later.

Η Google blog post says that with its vast network of over a billion Android devices, the new Find My Device will let users find their phone on Google Maps even if they're offline. If you have a Google Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, Find My Device will work even if the phone is turned off and with a completely empty battery.
In addition to the ability to find smartphones and tablets, Google will also release a new Find My Device feature in the near future. The company states:

Starting in May, you'll be able to track everyday items like your keys, wallet or luggage with Bluetooth tracker tags from Chipolo and Pebblebee in the Find My Device app. These tags, created specifically for the Find My Device network, will be compatible with tracking notifications on Android and iOS to protect you from unwanted tracking. Later this year we will have Bluetooth tracker tags from eufy, Jio, Motorola and other companies.
Also, starting in May, the Find My Device app will also feature a “Find nearby” button that will guide you to a lost item that supports Bluetooth tracker tags.
Google says the new Find My Device service includes privacy features such as end-to-end encryption of location data. It also has what it calls aggregated device location reporting, which will help protect against any hackers who want to use that data to monitor a home or location.
George is still wondering what he is doing here….
