Ingress, is an augmented reality game by Google. As seen in the game, it featured Nazi concentration camps which caused a variety of reactions reactions from the players. Google apologized for showing the camps and removed them.
The game is developed by Niantic Google Labs. Ingress displays several points of interest submitted by players, which must then be approved by the Ingress development team.
The game uses these points as base camps, or as resistance points.
Approved points are usually historical monuments. But Nazi concentration camps should not be included in a game.
John Hanke of Niantic Labs said:
"When we realized that we had added a number of former concentration camps to Germany as historical points, we realized that they did not live up to the spirit of our guidelines and we started the process of removing them from the map of Germany and elsewhere in Europe. We apologize for that. "
