New features in Google Maps: "Where are you now"? "When do you get there"? Whether you are going to a party, at the family table, or the relatives or friends are waiting for you, these questions are a commonplace. Sometimes they appear to be pressing. Some others do not. Now, the answer, in all cases, can be both common and innovative.
Soon, Google Maps users worldwide will be able to respond through the app itself.
Either in mobile Android or iOS, you will be able to share where you are on the map in real time and with anyone. Those you share it with will be able to see your location from their mobile (Android, iPhone, mobile web) or even from a computer.
Here's how it works in a real scenario: Whenever you want to let someone know where you are, just open the side menu or tap the blue dot that represents the location on the map. Clicking 'Share Location' then chooses who you want to share with and for how long and ready!
You can share your location in real time with your Google contacts, or even with friends or relatives, by sending the relevant link through your favorite messaging applications. When you share it, the people you have selected can see it on their map. Also, an icon will appear over the compass on your map for as long as you share your location. You can change your mind and stop sharing at any time: it's up to you.
So the next time you're on the road or running late, share your location in real-time and enable tracking of your route progress while navigating Google Maps. During the route, tap on "More" at the bottom of the route screen, and then "Route Notification". When you share your route with others, they'll see your estimated time of arrival and can track it as you head to your destination. THE information it ends automatically when you have arrived.
Location sharing on Google Maps is coming soon worldwide, and you'll be able to share with friends, family and colleagues two very important information: where you are and when you will get where you are going. Whether the route or the destination is more valuable, the answer for them is just a click away.
