Google has obtained a patent that will help the company remove pirated and "cloned" applications from its store Google Play.
According information, the company will maintain a database of approved applications that have already been uploaded to on-line of store, from legitimate developers. All new apps will then be compared against the content of the database before they are approved, in order to discover any similarity with existing apps.
The company will not compare the set of applications against each other, but it will code, data files, audio and image files. A special algorithm will determine the "similarity rating", finding out whether an application is a clone or not.
