They should have a clean record driving and the ability to type at a speed of 40 WPM. Employment contracts are for 12 months and 24 months, and drivers will have to drive 6-8 hours a day, monitor Google's self-driving software and report its performance to the company's engineers.
Brian Torcellini, head of Google's self-driving car testing program, told the Arizona Republic that "test drivers will play an important role in the development of technology self-driving."
Describing the ideal candidate for the job, he added:
In general, they should be excellent guides that really pay special attention to the road and can predict the social aspects of driving. Demand for local drivers will be greater because they know the roads and local driving rules better.
The company announced last month that it will start testing its vehicles in Arizona, while trials were already begun in Mountain View, California, the capital of Texas, Austin and Kirkland, Washington.
