A case of illegal use or access to programs or data has been investigated by the Greek Police's Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office, and a case file of 45's native country was filed.

In particular, digital evidence was investigated, according to which the 45-year-old citizen, together with other internet users, conducts mass denial electronic attacks services (Distributed Denial of Service – DDoS) against websites.

In more detail, the perpetrators, for a fee, cause damage to websites and online selling products (e-shops), gaining access to third party credit card codes and online information , for the purpose of illegal financial gain.

It is noted that the Electronic Crime Investigation Division was investigating a case involving online attack on a pharmacy e-shop, which lasted more than one year, causing the company a total loss of EUR 350.000.

The online attacks were a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) type that was particularly intense, as occasionally "ghost" computers were used that caused 70.000.000 visits daily at the above e-shop, making it no longer functional.

In the framework of the preliminary examination, thorough and thorough police and internet research was conducted to investigate and elucidate the above cases. From the digital research carried out and after correlation and analysis of the internet attacks on their mode of operation (modus operandi), it emerged that the offender was 45.

In searches carried out at his father's house and at the 45-year-old's house, two (2) hard drives and a portable storage medium (usb stick) were found and confiscated. From the on-site investigation of the computers it was found that the hard disks were deleted and formatted.

Seized digital finds and storage media will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for appropriate laboratory tests.

The analysis of the online traces of online attacks continues, in collaboration with the involved countries, to identify and identify more individuals acting online at the expense of online businesses by "executing" contracts from competing companies for the purpose of the illegal asset benefit by the digital vandals they were operating.

The case file will be submitted to the competent Prosecutor's Office.
