A case involving organized digital attacks against e-shops was investigated by the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office.

A case of illegal use or in programs or elements and a regular procedure file was filed against a 45-year-old citizen.

In particular, digital data were investigated, according to which the 45-year-old native, along with other online , carry out distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against websites.

More specifically, for a fee, perpetrators cause damage to websites and online e-shops by gaining access to third-party credit card codes and online payment items for illegal asset benefit.

It is noted that the Electronic Crime Investigation Division was investigating a case involving online attack on a pharmacy e-shop, which lasted more than one year, causing the company a total loss of EUR 350.000.

The online attacks were a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) type that was particularly intense, as occasionally "ghost" computers were used that caused 70.000.000 visits daily at the above e-shop, making it no longer functional.

As part of the preliminary examination, a thorough and thorough police and online investigation was carried out, to investigate and clarify the above cases. From the conducted digital research and after correlation and of the online attacks in terms of their modus operandi, it emerged that the 45-year-old was the perpetrator.

In investigations carried out in his father's home and 45 house, two (2) hard drives and portable storage media (usb stick) were found and seized. From on-the-spot research on computers, it was found that hard disk formatting had recently been deleted.

Seized digital finds and storage media will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for appropriate laboratory tests.

The analysis of the electronic traces through which the online attacks were carried out continues, in collaboration with the ecountries abroad to locate and identify more persons who were acting in an organized manner at the expense of online businesses by "executing" contracts from competing companies, with the aim of illegally profiting from the digital vandalism they were acting on.

The case file will be submitted to the competent Prosecutor's Office.
