The Greek Police's Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate is informing citizens about the "Shylock" malicious software in our country that aims to intercept money from Internet Banking Systems as well as financial information and data.
In particular, the malware has the ability to steal funds from Internet Banking Systems by using stolen access information (username, code access, etc.) to Internet Banking Systems (e-banking).
This software quickly spreads through emails and live messengers.
More specifically, the users of the internet, they are "infected" when they choose malicious links (links), which are sent to them either via e-mail or through communication programs and are then "persuaded" to download and run the malicious software, without their knowledge.
Then, once the malware has been installed without the user's knowledge, it first seeks to gain access to financial information and money stored in the victim's accounts (either personal or corporate) and secondly to transfer that information , as well as the underpaid funds to the perpetrators who control the illegal action of malicious software.
People who receive messages from unknown senders or unknown origin, either via email or via live messenger, are required not to open the links and not download the files contained in them.
In addition, type the addresses of the web pages (URL) in the browser (browser), instead of using hyperlinks, genuine software programs should be used and updated regularly, while there should always be an up-to-date PC protection program (antivirus).
