Πρόκειται για ένα hack πέρα από κάθε φαντασία.. Μια ομάδα ερευνητών από το ερευνητικό κέντρο της Γαλλικής κυβέρνησης Anssi έχουν ανακαλύψει ότι ένας hacker μπορεί να ελέγξει τα smartphone που έχουν το Siri της Apple και το Google Now των Android, as long as they have headphones on.
In short where you listen carelessly music from your loved one's headphones smartphone, this silently begins to take phones, send messages and browse the internet without asking you. And all this when you are 4,8 meters away from the hacker. Just have a headset.
How does Hack work? It's a very interesting and clever technique. The hack uses a radio transmitter that sends radio waves to silently make voice commands on any iPhone or Android phone (with attached headphones with a built-in microphone) that has Siri or Google Now turned on respectively.
The headphone cables act as radio antennas and can be used to trick an iPhone or Android phone into believing that the voice commands come from the user's microphone.
This could be used by a hacker to do a lot of things on the victim's cell phone without even hearing a word, including:
- Making calls
- Send text messages
- Call up the hacker number to make the victim's phone on a chat monitor
- Browse malware web sites
- Send phishing and spam messages using Facebook, Twitter or email
"I could imagine a bar or an airport where there are so many people," said Vincent Strubel, director of the research team at Anssi. "Sending some electromagnetic waves could cause many smartphones to call a cash-charging number."
Although the theoretical hack can be done from a distance of 4,8 meters, the distance could be increased and all the materials (batteries, antennas, etc.) fit only inside a car.
