Mr. Axelle Aprville, a researcher at Fortinet security company, analyzed “How can one draw a Fitbit in just 10 seconds” at Hack.Lu in Luxembourg.

Using only Bluetooth, Mr Aprville was able to modify them about measures and distance. However, he said it is possible to infect the device to spread malware to syncing devices.

The Fitbit Flex tracker is a flexible wristband that measures and keeps statistics for you , such as blood pressure and heart rate.

Flex is a Fittbit product, and its main features are:
It acts as an alarm clock through a silent vibration.
The appliance is water repellent.
The sensor can be removed (and used with other Flex wristbands).
It is synchronized via USB and can be used via the Fitbit application.
Makes wireless synchronization via Bluetooth.
It has an OLED display.

It is available in the Greek market and a search at Skroutz will give you enough results.

According to the investigator, an attacker can send malicious software to the tracker from a distance that catches Bluetooth. Once the device is infected and the victim wants to synchronize his fitness data with Fitbits servers, the tracker responds to the synchronization, but in addition to the standard messages it exchanges with the server, it also sends the infected code.

From there, the tracker can offer a specific malicious load on a PC, that is, start a backdoor, and spread the infection to other trackers,

You can watch the Fitbit Hack demo video by Kon Axelle Apvrille, which shows this attack

Learning about the vulnerability of Fitbit Flex trackers, the company replied "We believe that the security issues reported today are false and that Fitbit devices can not be used to infect users with malware"
