Google today introduced a new feature called “Hold for Me”. The new function will use the Google Assistant and announced along with the presentation of the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G).
With the new feature, Google Assistant will be on the line for you so you can do other important tasks while you wait for a representative from a companys, for example, to take the call. The new feature is currently available in an early preview on the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) in the US.
However, the new feature only applies to calls made to a toll-free number. He uses her technology Google Duplex to recognize music on hold and tell the difference between a recorded message and a real person speaking.
When someone on the other end is ready to talk, Google Assistant will send you an audible alert, vibrate your phone, and display a message on your screen.
To protect your privacy, the audio is processed only on your device and works even without an Internet connection. Google says it will not store data in your account unless you choose to do so to improve performance.
You can enable the feature by opening the Phone app, tapping on menu with the three dots. From the settings section you can enable the Hold for Me option.
