We are approaching the one-year anniversary of his leaks Snowden, and probably the messages φαίνεται να είναι ελπιδοφόρα (με κάθε επιφύλαξη, καθώς δεν είναι δυνατόν να γνωρίζουμε τους κρυμμένους “άσσους” της NSA). Αν και δεν έχει σημειωθεί καμία change in its mode of operation NSA, at least, the online community seems to have learned to better protect itself.
According to a new survey published by the Canadian company διαχείρισης ευρυζωνικών συνδέσεων, την Sandvine, όλο και περισσότεροι άνθρωποι χρησιμοποιούν κρυπτογραφημένες συνδέσεις για access on the Internet.
At 2013, the bandwidth used by encrypted traffic has doubled in North America. In Europe, of course, Latin America has quadrupled, as TorrentFreak points out.
More specifically, in Europe, where the percentage of encrypted Internet traffic was 1,47% last year, today it has risen to 6.10%. In North America, the percentage of encrypted traffic on the Internet reached this year's 3,80%, from last year's 2,29%. In Latin America, the bandwidth consumed by SSL connections increased to 10,37% within a year, from a mere 1,80%.
Of course, even now, the rates remain low, and there is still a long way to go. In a utopically ideal future, we will use all encrypted links, but as we have said, we are still far away. It will be quite interesting to see how this trend will develop in the years to come. Of course, do not expect the NSA to remain unprofitable and to see it simply happening.
