Max Schrems, is one college student law student from Austria and an old acquaintance of his Facebook which has caused him quite a few problems at times. The active student practicing his future profession filed a class-action lawsuit against the social network, which can include up to 1 billion users.
This is possible because he issued an invitation to all Facebook users except those resident in Canada and the United States to join. The number will be really large, which is a fairly large number, considering that only 20% of Facebook's monthly users come from these two countries, according to Mashable.
Schrems filed his complaint in an Austrian court, alleging that Facebook has engaged in a series of privacy violations, including helping the US National Security Agency collect user information through the PRISM program. The young student asks as compensation €500 for each user who signs the complaint.
He also claims that Facebook is violating European privacy laws by monitoring users from websites outside the social network via "like" buttons.
If the name Schrems is known on Facebook, as this is not the first lawsuit. The student had again sued Facebook last year. He then blames the social network of participants in the PRISM surveillance program and the lawsuit was filed before the Data Protection Commissioner of Ireland.
The young man invites all adult Facebook users outside the United States and Canada to follow him in his fight against the world's largest social network. If you want to "register" for Schrems' lawsuit you can do it here.
