When making Skype calls on a Windows-running computer, you may have experienced a very irritating feature.
Before you start a call to Skype or Whatsapp, the sound of your computer is at the level you have set. But as soon as Skype starts to make a call, the volume of the computer's sound is lowered by itself inexplicably. The sound of the phone call remains at normal levels, but that sound elsewhere from the back now is almost silent.
You may not like this kind of behavior and you might be looking for a way to fix it. Do not look unfairly in Skye's settings. The lowering of sound does not owe it! It is built into Windows itself. So, before you start typing the Skype communication program for the lack of options, see the steps below that give you the right to configure your computer's behavior to suit your wishes.
What's really going on here? Windows has a service that if it detects a phone call to take place on your computer, it can drop the volume from a fixed amount. This decrease may range from a drop of 50% to 100% of all other system sounds. When you make or receive a Skype call, your computer detects that you are making a phone call. Automatically, Windows sets the volume of all other sounds to the pre-set percentage.
But you haven't set up anything, right? Windows during installation comes with a pre-configured option that just hasn't been updated. This explains why this feature is turned on and you don't remember anything to "mess" with the sound settings in Windows. Fortunately, this option is very easy to find and just as easy to set up.
You can tell at functional your program not to turn down the sound or if you want, to turn it down even more than it is now. How to set it up:
1. Go to the Windows Control Panel
2. Enter the category "Hardware and Audio" and then "Audio" (or "Audio Device Management").
3. In the new Sound window that opens, go to the "Communications" tab
4. You now have the four options that are responsible for the specific behavior of your computer and an explanation at the top of the window, which states:
"Windows Can Automatically Adjust the Volume of Different Tones When You Use Your Computer to Make or Receive Phone Calls."
The options that your operating system offers at this point are:
a. Mute all other sounds
b. Decrease the volume of other sounds by 80%
c. Decrease the volume of other sounds by 50%
d. Do not take any action
All of the above is nothing complicated or obscure. If you do not want to reduce the sound during Skype call mode, just highlight the last option and press the OK button
On the other hand, if you want to reduce all other sounds except the phone call, highlight the first option and press the OK button.
Interim choices are everyone's personal tastes, so try them out and stay happy to keep them.
