IBM Developer Drone Drop 2019 competition has officially started. From today until June 16, the company will allocate $ 1.500 (the price of a DJI drone) to the winning developers who will take part in the competition.
Why is IBM offering free drones? He hopes you will use them to develop applications with AI technology that will be able to help in case of natural disasters.
The competition officially started last week, but there is plenty of time for it enrollment your. You don't need to be an expert or have already created an app to take part. Winners will be chosen at random and not by judges. Winners will win more than just a drone, according to IBM:
" The DJI Tello drone is more than just a prize. We will provide you with code templates to unlock the capabilities of the drone, and introduce you to new skills around visual recognition, AI and machine learning."
The giveaway comes from Code and Response of IBM, a new initiative launched this year by the company. IBM's goal is to empower developers with essential e.gconditions and support the implementation of prototype technological solutions to humanity's problems.
Charismatic developers who may not have access to resources and IBM mentors seem to be a strategy that already pays off for the company.
One of last year's hackathon winners, Pedro Cruz, developed an app that helped relieve people affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico.
