Instagram Threads : the Twitter clone

Meta is preparing to launch a new social media platform, Instagram Threads, on July 6, which will be its competitor .

The company seems to have Threads ready as it is already being tested by certain people such a through the App Store, as well as through the Google Play Store.

According to its official and brief description s, from the App Store:

Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from that interest you today to tomorrow's trends.
Whatever interests you, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and like-minded people, or build your own loyal following to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world .

The screenshots in the App Store preview show a platform that looks a lot like Twitter. You can see a thread (post) with a heart (like), a speech bubble (reply), a loop with two arrows (repost to your own feed), and a scroll (share).

You will also see the classic metrics of "likes" and "replies", "Profiles you follow", "Mentioned only" and "New thread".

The app connects directly to Instagram so users will be able to log in using their Instagram credentials and manage and choose who to follow from the list of people they already follow on Instagram.

According to previous reports about the app, it will have a centralized main stream and users who are already blocked on Instagram will remain blocked from those accounts on the new platform. Meta is apparently also working to attract high-profile users for release.
