An Internet-based extortion case has been detected by the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office. Regular proceedings were filed against two nationals, aged 45 and 47 years.
The perpetrators, having obtained unauthorized access to material with personal moments of androgynous, were blackmailing them with the threat of posting on the Internet in order to pay them a sum of money.
The Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crimes investigated a case of attempted extortion via the Internet and a relevant regular procedure file was filed against a 45-year-old and a 47-year-old citizen.
In particular, the investigation of the case began after a complaint by a 34-year-old Georgian citizen, according to which an unknown perpetrator sent to mobile her phone text message, where she stated that she owns three archives image and sound, with her and her husband in private moments and demanded the sum of 8.000 euros in order not to publish them.
The aforementioned threats continued from time to time and to confirm the allegations, an unknown actor handed over to 34 a digital disk with the three controversial digital records, requiring the payment of 8.000 euros.
Then, according to the complaint, after the 34-year-old did not give in to the threats, a few days later she found a profile with a username similar to the data of her on a well-known social networking medium, where photos of the material in question had been posted, while as she was also informed by her relatives, an unknown person sent them the above-mentioned files via personal messages.
The above complaints were brought to the attention of the Athens District Attorney's Office and the necessary investigative actions were ordered to be carried out by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate in order to clarify the case.
In the context of investigating the case, the Corruption Prosecutor's Office addressed the relevant social networking website and, in parallel, thorough and thorough police and digital research was carried out, which revealed the electronic traces and links used by the above-mentioned perpetrators for posting material.
In legal investigations, carried out yesterday (25-01-2016) in the morning, at the homes of the 45-year-old and the 47-year-old in Attica, it was found that the connections were used Internet them for posting the material. Also, a digital disc was found and confiscated, which was sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
The case file, which was formed, will be submitted to the Athens Prosecutor's Office.
