Microsoft has withdrawn Internet Explorer from the Windows 11, καθιστώντας τον προσβάσιμο μόνο μέσω του "IE Mode" στο νέο πρόγραμμα περιήγησης Edge.
Microsoft confirmed again last month that Internet Explorer 11 will be retired on June 15, 2022. The update will roll out to Windows 10 from version 20H2 and all newer versions. The editions server and enterprise των Windows 10 δεν θα επηρεαστούν.
What exactly will change?
Τα archives opened in IE (such as web shortcuts and HTML documents) will also be redirected to Edge.
Eventually, IE will be permanently disabled with some future update. Once this happens, all traces of IE will be completely removed. Microsoft recommends using Internet Explorer Mode (IE Mode) in Edge (which uses the IE engine) if you need to access websites that don't work in modern browsers.letterbrowsing.
It's important to mention that the built-in Internet Explorer engine on Windows (MSHTML) won't go away, only the browser itself. The MSHTML engine powers the embedded web views in many Windows apps, which is why it's included in Windows 11 and used for IE Mode in Edge.
Microsoft plans to continue supporting IE Mode on the Edge until 2029.
The forthcoming transition will have a historic impact. Internet Explorer has been a program in the computer world for decades and now it will eventually disappear as a standalone application. It's the end of an era that I think we will not miss.
