A public relations spokesman for a major media company seems to have published a strange tweet on Friday for AIDS and Africa.
A tweet sent from the account of Justine Sacco, a senior communications director at InterActiveCorp (better known as the IAC), said: "I'm going to Africa, I hope I don't catch AIDS. I'm kidding, I'm white ”!”
IAC — known for its popular sites OkCupid, Match.com, CollegeHumor, The Daily Beast and Vimeo — responded to the "unfortunate" tweet, according to International Business Times:
It is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the opinions and values of IAC. Unfortunately, the employee in question is currently on an international flight and we are unable to contact her. But it is a very serious one theme and we will take appropriate action.
