According research of Kaspersky Lab and B2B International, businesses lose confidence in third-party suppliers. The main reason is the increasing number of security incidents that may be caused by their activity. 
Research has shown that for a large organization, the average cost of such an event may exceed $ 3 million.
According to recent research, nearly one third of businesses in Europe (31,5%) do not trust software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for data security. This applies both to small and medium-sized businesses and to large organizations.
The main reason for this loss of confidence to suppliers is the fact that they were responsible for 15,4% of digital incidents in Europe 2015.
Incidents involving third-party vendors are no less dangerous to businesses than direct digital attacks against their infrastructure. And on two cases, the cost of eliminating the impact is extremely high: the cost for digital incidents involving suppliers is an average of $67.000 for small and medium-sized businesses, while for large organizations it is $3,27 million.
«In order to avoid damage and to ensure secure communication with suppliers, a comprehensive and multilevel approach is required. The first thing to do is to delimit the access rights to different areas of the corporate network for different employees. This will help limit a supplier's access to business resources. Companies also need to be sure they know the details of the vendor's security system but also apply specific interaction rules based not only on efficiency and flexibility but also on security, said Konstantin Voronkov, Head of Endpoint Product Management, Kaspersky Lab.
