H Kaspersky Lab unites its forces with the City of London Police to train police forces and businesses all over the UK on how to tackle digital crime.
Digital crime accounts for a fairly high percentage of the incidents of fraud today, with seven out of ten scams being related to the Internet, according to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau of Britain. However, the complex and unknown public nature of these crimes creates problems both in dealing with, and in identifying and understanding them.
To tackle the rise in digital crime, London City Police has called for Kaspersky Lab specialists to help train police officers from every level on ever-increasing online threats. This innovative curriculum - the first of its kind for the UK prosecution authorities - will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and deal with online crimes - from cheating an individual victim during an online purchase to the targeted business against a loss-making thousands of pounds.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκπαίδευσης, θα τονιστεί και η ανάγκη βελτίωσης της procedureof fraud reporting by businesses to ensure that police and security services can have a clear picture of the issue.
The first program was successfully completed by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau in February of 2014. The training program focuses on threats against financial institutions and government agencies, which are also the leading e-fraud targets in the UK. However, the skills acquired by the participants can also be used to combat the digital threats that the public may face.
"As the complexity of digital crime is steadily increasing, it is imperative that the knowledge of the service on these threats grows at the same pace," said David Clark, Head of the Financial Crime Division at the City of London Police. "With over 21.000 digital crimes being recorded in the UK during the first quarter of 2014, it is clear that simple users and businesses are at risk and need protection. The UK police must be prepared to recognize these crimes and have the necessary knowledge to face them face-to-face. The collaboration with Kaspersky Lab further underlines our role as a national police force against financial crime and will strengthen our capabilities to combat digital fraud and digital crime nationwide, "he added.
"It is an honor for Kaspersky Lab to take this opportunity to share with the City of London Police its extensive knowledge, information and forecasts της σχετικά με την ψηφιακή ασφάλεια», σχολίασε ο Veniamin Levtsov, Vice-President, Corporate Sales and Business Development της Kaspersky Lab.
