The patent, numbered 9009836, was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office and describes a technology designed to provide virtual machines with full protection against digital threats without affecting their performance.
In virtual environments, in every virtual machine is allocated exactly the portion of RAM and CPU capabilities it needs.
The reduction in resources required by each virtual machine therefore means that themovement multiple machines with the same hardware.
With the current data, conventional digital security solutions should have limited resources. However, if a traditional security solution is performed on each of the multiple virtual machines located on an infrastructure, then security jobs consume enough of the available computing power.
The use of newly patented technology contributes to significantly reducing the burden. In addition, the installed agent provides more reliable protection compared to the most common non-agent approach.
The agent offers access to the system's memory and processes, while utilizing additional security technologies such as Internet control solutions, application control, and devices.
The Light Agent technology patented by Kaspersky Lab combines a special security virtual machine with a light agent, which is installed on other virtual machines within the infrastructure. The special machine is equipped with a safety unit and serves as a safety solution for all other machines. The patent protects the Hypervisor-agnostic method of communication between the special machine and the light agents.
This method enables agents not only to send data directly to the security unit for analysis and execution of their instructions but also to provide advanced means of protection or restoration if necessary. The above would be impossible to do with an agent-based approach.
