Unfortunately, Microsoft has so far not provided any clarification on the possible solution for this, but it stated earlier this week thatteamς that he is examining the matter to determine what went wrong with the update.
The solution, of course, if you don't want to have it on your computer until Microsoft's mistake is found, is firstly not to install it at all (so it's more likely that you won't be able to install it completely), secondly if there is already on your PC remove it via:
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Security Update for Windows XP > Remove
