2024 is a very special year for the world's most popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu. It is its 20th anniversary since it was released in October 2004 with Ubuntu 4.10 Warty Warthog.
To celebrate the anniversary, Canonical will release Ubuntu 24.04 LTS codenamed Noble Numbat next month.
Today the new wallpapers were released.
We've posted some above for you to see, but if you'd like to download them in full resolution, you can do so from the contest post at Ubuntu Discourse.
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is expected to be released on April 25, 2024. It will be supported until May 31, 2029 and extended with security updates until April 25, 2034. The long life of Long Term Support (LTS) releases makes them ideal for people who just want to install an operating system and then get to work instead of upgrading.
If you want to use the upcoming version of Ubuntu, a beta is scheduled to be released on April 4th. it will contain bugs though like any beta, and it's best not to install it on your main PC.
