For the record, Lavabit, was one safes email service allegedly used by Edward Snowden. After her closure there were publications that wanted her collaboration with her Silent Circle, to create a new secure e-mail service. The time has come as today it was announced that the first beta version of the service Lavaboom will be ready this week.
Lavaboom is a new company from Germany that aims to provide a secure email service.
Unlike Lavabit, which was a paid service, the Lavaboom offers a free 500MB mailbox, protected with draconian security measures. There is of course additional storage space for those who wish, for a fee of course. The company accepts payments with Paypal, Bitcoin or even cash. Taking into account the fact that Lavaboom was founded and operates in Germany, there is a good chance that it is a safe service and without interventions by the NSA. At the very least, the US secret service will not be able to require the company to disclose the SSL keys.
