LibreOffice 7.0: LibreOffice continues to be the number one alternative to Microsoft Office and The Document Foundation has continuous improvements every time.
At the same time, the team of developers is developing the next major release that is expected to be released this summer as LibreOffice 7.0.
So this week The Document Foundation released the first alpha build of LibreOffice for Windows, Linux and Mac.
The first version of LibreOffice has been released to the public, as developers have already started bug hunting. It's a win win move as it allows users to test the latest version of the suite and share any problems που συναντούν με την ομάδα των προγραμματιστών, βοηθώντας τους ουσιαστικά να επιδιορθώσουν την application from these very early stages of development.
LibreOffice 7.0, as mentioned above, is expected to be released in August with many improvements for each application included in the suite.
Details of the new version are included in the wiki, and they mention:
“DOCX is now saved in native 2013/2016/2019 mode instead of mode 2007 compatibility. This primarily benefits Word users.”
The new LibreOffice update is accompanied by an improved UI, as the developer team added a new icon theme (Sukapura). It will be the default theme in macOS and will make the suite look more modern in all its applications.
