Linux Lite 6.4 just released with new features, such as support for WebP in the Thunar file manager and a new look for the e-mail client Thunderbird.
Linux Lite may not be as well-known as Ubuntu or Linux Mint, but unlike those distributions, it is much lighter. According to the release notes, Linux Lite 6.4 will run on computers with just 768 MB of RAM and a 1 GHz processor. These are the minimum specifications, however, one is recommended Processor 1,5 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. As for disk space, the minimum is 8 GB, but it is recommended that you have at least 20 GB.
Another change in this update is that Linux Lite internals have started to be repackaged with ZSTD compression. This provides faster decompression speeds and high compression rates.
But there are a few issues with this update. First, it comes with Linux 5.15.0-69 which is quite behind the current stable Linux kernel, so some newer hardware may not yet be compatible with Linux Lite.
In addition, its icons surfacedesktops only support English and the grub menu shows Linux Lite as Ubuntu.
