If you are using the Linux Mint distribution, you will be happy to know with the news below. The upcoming Linux release Mint 19.1 “Tessa” which will be released around Christmas, will come with an updated desktop environment.
She wears the last Cinnamon 4.0. Distributing, of course, like any update, will bring many additional improvements to other parts of the operating system.
The official announcement reads as follows:
Cinnamon 4.0 will look much more modern thanks to a new panel layout. Whether you use the new look, or the old, we want you to feel at home in the new functional your system. You will have the choice changeversion of the desktop environment with one click, and you'll be able to make Cinnamon exactly as it was before.
So according to the developers you will be able to choose between the traditional panel or the modern look. The modern version of the panel includes the following icons and characteristics:
Icons on 40px
Icons for 24px for the system tray
and the windows will be grouped according to the application
Apart from all the above related to the appearance of the upcoming operating system, the development team also added support for mainline kernels within the Update Manager.
