Cinnamon 4.0 will look much more modern thanks to a new layout on the panel. Whether you use the new look, or the old one, we want you to feel at home in your new operating system. You will have the option to change the version of desktop environment with one click, and you will be able to make Cinnamon exactly as it used to be.
So, according to the developers, you will be able to choose between the traditional panel or the modern look. The modern version of the panel includes the following icons and features:
Icons on 40px
Icons for 24px for the system tray
and the windows will be grouped according to the application
In addition to all of the above regarding the emergence of the upcoming operating system, the development team also added support for mainline kernels within Update Manager.
