The Linux Mint development team has announced its release Linux Mint 20. New version it is based on Ubuntu 20.04 and will provide support for the next five years.
The new release comes in three flavors: Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce. Linux Mint 20 offers support for different scales on HiDPI displays, including a new tool called warpinator for sharing files on the local network and the welcome box provides quick access to change the desktop color.
“The star of Linux Mint 20 is a new app called Warpinator. 10 years ago, Linux Mint 6 introduced a tool called “Giver” that could share files on the local network. Without a server or complex settings local computers will automatically see each other. So you could simply copy and paste files from one to the other. Warpinator is a reboot of Giver. FTP, NFS, Samba settings are no longer needed for file transfers between two computers and it's a real shame to use external media (services Internet, USB sticks, external hard drives) only to share files when there is a local network that can do just that.”
